The River Kraldum winds through the city’s ancient heart, banked by high walls, carrying centuries’ worth of trash and lost treasures. At low tide, its foreshore is exposed, the jetsam of history along with it. You are a mudlark: one of those who descends to search through the mud for whatever the tides have turned up. In the full game, you'll create a mudlark, explore an ever-changing foreshore and encounter its denizens, collect and identify artefacts and pursue ancient mysteries. This edition offers a simplified version of the item-collecting system and identification table – you can use it to get a feel for one of the game's central mechanics, or treat it as a worldbuilding procedure to generate artefacts and history for your own settings.
