What it is about
Four bookings. Five dinners. One room should have been empty. At Lantern House, a small Japanese inn, two guests change rooms before dinner. The kitchen delivers five orders for only four bookings. Then a borrowed antique disappears, and an unsigned note claims it was returned. Follow the records, compare the clocks, and find out what the paper trail can actually prove. The Unbooked Room is a complete, self-contained deduction mystery for 1-2 players . Read on screen or print the evidence and spread it across your table. Play alone, or work together on the same case. What you do Trace room changes against dinner delivery tickets. Use a route diagram, clock checks and staff sightings to test an alibi. Compare an inventory, a buyer's notes and a visitor record to reconstruct a missing object's journey. Separate verified facts from a convenient explanation. Inside the download 13-page Player file: introduction, case rules, ten evidence records and a conclusion worksheet. 2-page Hints file: three progressive hints for each of the four questions. 3-page Solutions file: full reasoning and the story's ending, kept separate to protect surprises. A4 and US Letter editions of the same 18-page case, plus an English start guide. Before you buy English only. No knowledge of Japan, game master, special app, dice, cutting or internet research is required. Use a PDF reader and your own notes, or a printer and pencil. The PDFs have selectable text and bookmarks; the worksheet is not a fillable form. Colour is optional. Allow roughly 30-45 minutes as a design estimate, not a measured playtest time. This is one fixed case that can be solved fresh once, with a complete ending and no required sequel. Themes: non-graphic theft, deception and financial pressure. All people and places are fictional. Free four-page preview below: inspect the writing and page layout before purchasing. It contains the introduction, rules and first two records; it is a reading sample, not a complete playable case. Production notes Created with AI assistance for English text, puzzle design, code, vector illustrations and layout. Internally checked for clue/solution consistency and PDF layout. No independent human playtest or English native-speaker review is claimed. Your purchase permits personal play and printing for your own private sessions. This is a finished game, not a commercial asset pack. Full permission and production notes are included.
