What it is about

The Lorekeeper's grimoire has been scattered across the pages of every novel ever written, hidden among stories of the past, present, and future. Each session, you'll take an ordinary work of fiction and search its pages for Fragments. These are characters, relics, places, beasts, provisions, deities, and more. Record them in your own journal and slowly reconstruct the lost Grimoire. Every book becomes a new adventure. Using a simple set of rules, Tomegrub transforms any novel into a world-building exercise. A book's page numbers determine its Potency, which decides the Fragments you'll seek. You'll learn mechanics like Shadow Pages, Legacy, Glossing, and Resonation, allowing ordinary words to become magical artifacts, cursed heirlooms, forgotten kingdoms, and legendary heroes. I made this game because I was already doing something like it for fun. Writing the rules helped organize my thoughts, and I figured there were probably other people who'd enjoy it too. Features: Play with almost any novel or short work of fiction Build a persistent Journal across multiple sessions Turn ordinary books into world building tools Solo play with little to no preparation required Lightweight rules that encourage creativity over optimization You will need: A fiction book A small notebook or journal A pen or pencil An imagination willing to dig between the lines The Lorekeeper's work was scattered, and now the Tomegrub's work begins
