What it is about
An argument across two books written in blood and ink, shattered and fragmented. In 2044, four people ripped open causality and ruptured space-time. The Wound has been bleeding ever since. You're an Echo. The Wound tore you from home and dumped you somewhen else. But it's not done. Not by a longshot. Your memories are already dissolving, try not to drown. TEMPORAL ECHOES is the manual Dr. Eleanor Chen wrote when she still had hope. Roll, write, record. Per Dr. Chen, Coherence keeps your waveform intact. Choose your Anchor and Locked Memory carefully, since everything else may go as you jump from era to era. Chen's maxim is precision trumps paradox. emiT is Alan Rose's rebuttal. Alan has been displaced three hundred and forty (subjective) years. He wrote the emiT protocol because Chen's manual is "slowest way to die with pretty packaging." Follow Alan, and you become a Wreck. Your memories are Scars, and you burn them for violent, radical adaptation. Weaponize your identity and dance in the wreckage. Alan expects you to go down swinging. The Crossing Either book also plays standalone. It's a duology anyway. You'll see. Experience them in order and your Locked Memory becomes your Core Scar. Your final Anchor Strength sets your starting Corruption. The Echo who fought hardest to stay human begins emiT with the furthest to fall. Everything Chen taught you to protect is priced, at the crossing, as what Alan's path obliterates. 180 pages. Two complete books with different oracles and rules. An underlying shared system: 2d6 + Mode + a Memory or Scar that genuinely fits. 10+ you get it. 7–9 you get it and something goes sideways. 6 or under, something opens. Familiar enough. Oracles that decide where you land, when you land, and what's already wrong when you get there. Four factions hunting you: Tangled Revel, Loop Authority, Church of the Sacred Second & the Scionfall Directive. Each tempts you with poison gifts. Personnel files, faction memos, a debug log, and other recovered documents, held together by scotch tape and inconsistent nihilistic optimism. You'll need : a pencil, two D6s two D10s a notebook, and whoever you were. For fans of : Thousand Year Old Vampire, The Wretched, and Ironsworn, anyone who likes when things get personal. Content warnings : medical trauma, identity dissolution, mental and physical illness, isolation. Also time travel, which is all of the above. Claude was used to assist with the layout in affinity.
