you are a kākāpō and it is your birthday!

A whakatauāki by Riki Cherrington (Ngāpuhi) and Tāne Davis (Ngāi Tahu) 'you are a kākāpō and it is your birthday!' is a solo-journaling game about being a flightless parrot from Aotearoa (so-called New Zealand), where you know that only you can throw the perfect birthday party! You'll need a set of polyhedral dice (or an online dice roller) and a way to record your story. You'll figure out who your kākāpō is, what relationships you have, and draw on those relationships to overcome challenges on the way to throwing the perfect party. Includes a plaintext word document for accesibility. Released during during Matariki and KiwiRPG Week 2026. Mānawatia a Matariki!Proudly a KiwiRPG member! The incredible art in the game is by Fe of Sleepy Badger Games . Please go check out his awesome critter games. This game is entirely inspired by this picture, which my friend Robin tracked down as being Sirocco himself!
