All That Sacred Sand

You are THE LAST GUARDIAN OF THE DESERT: an almost-extinct tradition entrusted to you by your MASTER. Your fascination with its CREATURES, RARITIES, AND MYSTERIES surpasses the irrational terror that may be lurking behind any dune. Your goal is to PROTECT THE VASTNESS and REPAIR AS MUCH OF IT AS YOU CAN. You made that promise to your Master in their final hours. If you earn 10 XP, one day you will ask YOUR OWN APPRENTICE to make the same promise. And so on... You will need 2D10, 1D6, and something to take notes with. Fill in THE GAPS between the events with your imagination. Side A: premise, objective, rules, and tables. Side B: the nearly 100 events of the desert. This project emerged during the celebration of the One-Page RPG Jam 2026 after enjoying such evocative films as Princess Mononoke and Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind. Other sources that may have inspired me include Dark Sun, Dune, The Electrum Archive, Sable, UVG, Noctis Labyrinth, Book of Travels, and my own game Helan... EXPANSION PLANS Because I found writing the events so enjoyable, I'm considering publishing two possible expansions in the future. I have some interesting ideas I'd like to explore in my own sessions, so I hope it won't take too long. I definitely want to provide support for a while with this setting in the form of improvements and corrections, supplements, posts and illustrations.
