What it is about
Something is wrong with every one of them. The shop is the most-visited scene in tabletop play and the least prepared. The party needs rope, arrows, a cure, a map — and the GM conjures a counter, a proprietor and a price, and the scene is over in a minute. This is a book of one hundred counters that will not let the scene be over in a minute. Each entry gives you three things: Front of house — the shop as the party sees it on walking in: the sign, the stock, the proprietor What's wrong — the flaw, the secret or the crime, for your eyes only The thread — what happens when the party notices, asks, or buys the wrong thing That last line is the engine. Every shop here can swallow a scene, a session or an arc, and the party walked in for rope. Organised by what they came in for: Bakers, Butchers & Provisioners · Smiths, Armourers & Forges · Tailors, Cobblers & Outfitters · Apothecaries & Herbalists · Pawnbrokers, Curios & Second-hand · Books, Maps & Scriveners · Stables, Carters & the Trades of the Road · Charms, Wonders & the Occult Trade · Wayside Stalls & Village Shops · The Shops That Shouldn't Be Open. Numbered 01–100, so you can roll d100 and take what comes. System-neutral. No stats, no rules text, no assumed setting, no prices — prices belong to your economy. Works with any fantasy TTRPG, and most of the flaws port straight into other genres. 13-page A4 PDF, cleanly typeset in two columns, print-friendly. Vol. I — 100 NPCs Who Are Lying to You , Vol. II — 100 Rumours — and What's Actually True and Vol. V — 100 Patrons and What They're Not Telling You are built the same way. A free ten-entry taster is on the same store page. New for Halloween: Vol. IV — 100 Corpses and How They Got That Way , a hundred bodies and the stories that left them there. Written with the assistance of AI tools, then curated and edited for the table.
