You scratch them away as you play, and you can never get them back. Each time you make a move you need to consider what you are willing to give up for your investigation. REDACTED words and strings of numbers do not follow you into retirement. If you have no more letters or numbers to give, and you have not come to a conclusion about your mystery, then you are lost in it forever. If, by sheer force of will you do solve it, you will not be the same person you were before the case.
