What it is about

The morning after the Port Wicke Pumpkin Regatta, the town's scale master is found at the foot of the wharf ladder. The State Police call it an accident and close the case by lunch. The town's part-time officer doesn't believe it, and he slides the whole file under your door. You are the detective. Read the statements, compare the logs, check the tide table, do the sums. Everything you need is on the page and no outside knowledge is required. When you're ready, answer five questions, then open the sealed solution to score yourself. What's inside Case file PDF, 36 pages, in US Letter and A4, print-friendly: officer's letter, incident report, map, program, weigh-off results, handwritten notes, medical examiner summary, tide table, gate keypad log, alarm log, ten witness statements, receipts, suspect grid, timeline worksheet and answer sheet. A separate 6-page solution PDF with the full walkthrough, scoring, and page references back to every clue. Play time: about 45–90 minutes (our estimate). Players: 1, or a couple solving together. You need: a printer or a screen, and a pencil. Fair play: one culprit, one motive, every clue in the file. No gore. Set in Port Wicke, Maine, the same town as the Halloween cozy mystery The Last Lantern by C.T. Lin. This case file is a separate story and spoils nothing. AI disclosure: the two illustrations were generated with AI image tools, and the text of the case, documents and solution was drafted with AI assistance, then checked for fair play before release. This is a digital download. No physical items will be shipped.
