What it is about

Three fishing boats wait outside the reef. Greywater's lighthouse is dark. You have a few flasks of oil, a shaking lens, and one night to help them home. The Last Light at Greywater is a free, standalone solo roleplaying tutorial for adult beginners. Six numbered turns lead you from your first choice and roll to one of four endings. Decide whom to help, when to rest, and how much oil to keep for the final signal. Short prompts give your character a voice without asking you to invent an adventure from scratch. You need one ordinary six-sided die, a pencil, and scrap paper. No other game, app, subscription, or AI service is needed during play. Included: - Six-page, ink-light PDFs in US Letter and A4 - A plain-text edition with the same complete rules and story - An explained first turn and a complete worked example - Clear outcomes even when resources run out Content: storms, heights, and people stranded at sea. No combat or character death. Version 0.1. The 20-30 minute session length is a design target. This sample has received scripted rules checks and a simulated walkthrough, but no human playtesting; completion time, beginner clarity, and enjoyment are still unverified. AI disclosure: The design and text were generated with AI; the layout and original geometric cover were made with code. Review and simulated testing were also AI-assisted. No AI service is used during play. Personal, noncommercial play and printing are allowed, including printed copies for your private play group. Do not redistribute the standalone files, resell them, or publish adaptations. Full permissions are on page 6. No exclusivity or intellectual-property guarantee is offered.
