What it is about
In preparing these rules, I looked at various vs. games to understand how designers hacked the rules to fit their vision. I was pleased that every game I looked at had worked within the framework created by the original game. They may have added Qualities or renamed them to be more thematic, and they have changed and created good and bad stuff. There does not seem to be a culture of changing the underlying core system. This makes it easier to create a single set of solo rules for all variants of the vs. game system. The system here is intentionally generic. You can play any vs. M based game. You get three tools: the Oracle, a set of Muses, and a Timer. Using these tools, you can delegate much of the GM decision-making to the cards. The tools work using the core methods of the vs. M Engine, drawing cards and using their face value and suit to get answers. These rules use part of the One Page Solo Engine by Karl Hendricks, the current version bits of an older, more concise version, and parts of the vs. M engine by Philip Reed.
