What it is about

Basmu a solo game of hunger and becoming. At the top of the black page, the coils of a giant serpent hang down and at the bottom of the page, there is a repeated block-printed pattern of pale moon slices Up in the sky, the horned serpent hungers And the moon fruits like pale temptation It is only fate then that the serpent's fangs one night sank deep into that succulent orb and devoured it crunching up the shards of silver shell like sugar candy forked tongue licking languidly round to scoop the syrupy innards Now Little Thief You must journey into the labyrinthine belly of the beast and steal back the moon Here and there are inky pools broken slivers of silver orb silently being devoured deeper in their depths How will you fish them out? How will you carry them home to the sky? How will you navigate the labyrinthine innards of the great snake star? And how will you resist your own hunger - because within the coils of Bašmu there are many strange and forbidden fruits The whispers of Bašmu will teach you to hunger for the pale albumen and golden yolk that sits cradled inside that silver luna shell shut the whispers out if you can Each time your resolve falters resisting will be harder But you must try If you eat 4 moon slices, you have devoured the whole of the moon The more you devour the moon egg the more you become like Bašmu Horned and scaled and carved by a light so dazzling and cold that it burns mortal eyes to gaze upon it And that is a bad thing. Anyone back home will tell you. You do not want to become strong and well armoured and powerful as the stars. You do not want to wear the horned crown upon your brow. No. And so I repeat; just to be clear: DO NOT EAT THE MOON PAY CLOSE ATTENTION, BECAUSE ALL THESE THINGS THAT ARE WRITTEN HERE ARE ABSOLUTE TRUTH. ALTHOUGH THE SILVER TONGUE OF THE STARS WILL TRY TO PERSUADE YOU OTHERWISE. THEREFORE, I WILL SAY TO YOU ONE LAST TIME, BEFORE YOU BEGIN YOUR QUEST.... This is a solo mythpunk horror game which delves deep into themes of identity and belonging, hunger and transformation. In essence it is a symbolic psychological journey into the realm of the subconscious to retrieve the lost or stolen parts of the psyche which represent our intuition and ability to act using innate wisdom and wildish nature. It draws from a combination of Romani, Mesopotamian and Slavic mythos to guide the player through a Jungian dreamscape populated with characters from folklore and fable. It is a game for members of The Scar Clan, and for those who feel drawn to the Trickster path. It may not be the right choice if you feel uncomfortable with themes of food and hunger, parent-child relationships, deception, body horror/transformation, monsters, or journeys into the underworld/ dark underground places.
