In Search of a Song

A cards-and-dice story game for one player, made for Road Trip Jam 2025. Made using the wonderful Carta SRD by Peach Garden Games . YOU You are a folklorist, travelling the country to record and collect folk tales and songs. Details like your name, pronouns and physical characteristics are up to you. You can choose them now, let them emerge through play, or leave them a mystery. You can roll or choose on the Equipment tables to see what you are wearing and carrying. YOUR VEHICLE Your vehicle can be anything that runs on fuel. This could include a vehicle pulled by an animal, such as a cart or vardo, since animals need food. In this case, if you "run out of fuel" in the game, it doesn't have to mean your animal is hurt or endangered—we'll just say that the vehicle lost a wheel or something. THE COUNTRY You will learn more about the country you're travelling in through play! Optionally, you can draw a map as you go. Keep an open mind and let the world reveal itself to you. THE AIM The aim of the game is to get home without running out of fuel, collecting as many stories and songs as you can along the way. If you do run out of fuel before you get home, you are STRANDED IN A SMALL TOWN , and that's its own adventure…
