What it is about

A Hero in the Cards is the minutes-to-learn, years-to-master deck-building TTRPG that uses a standard deck of playing cards to craft a personalized, tangible manifestation of your Hero. Over time, each card in your deck will be transformed – through found treasures, unforgettable experiences, or forged relationships – into new twists on the straightforward gameplay. What starts as simple games of Over/Under against two dueling decks of playing cards becomes a complex of tactics & strategy where every ability, tool, and ally you’ve picked up along the way gives you another edge to beat the odds. This game is for anyone who: Keeps forgetting to use the legendary sword or blessed relic they picked up four dungeons back. Wants a physical keepsake from their TTRPG campaigns that celebrates their favorite moments & memories. Loves gameplay that inspires story & character moments, and loves stories & characters that directly impact the gameplay. Loathes the idea of spending multiple hours explaining & teaching a new TTRPG to their friends. AHITC is setting-agnostic, and can be used in any fictional world or existing TTRPG setting where you'd like to see all the goodies (and not-so-goodies) you pick up along an adventure play a major part in your story. However, if you're looking for hand-crafted Settings specialized for this system, feel free to check out In Fae Verona - a magical & Shakespearean setting - here . This game is currently in its early stages, so any feedback on what's working for you, what's not, and what's most exciting in this version of the rules is much appreciated!
