What it is about
"The Mandate " is a solo TTRPG where the player is the Guide, a misterious magician that leads a cult of magician and monks. Every 10 years, a troubling event called the Trial shakes the land, and the Guide must lead the population to face it. The Guide isn't immortal, but when it dies its soul reincarnates in a new individual, until it is totally corrupted and completely destroyed. The Mandate utilizes a diceless system based on a standard deck of 54 playing cards and some small tokens. The player will generate a Guide through the rebirth process by drawing cards, and will face trials drawing cards by expending tokens. This game is inspired by eastern and buddhist religion, mythology and folklore. Made for the 1100 Words TTRPG Kitchen 2025 Game Jam, with the ingredients "Magic", "Rebirth", and "Trials".
