What it is about

The game is entirely human-made. No AI was used in the creation of this game. "There are horrors beyond life's edge that we do not suspect, and once in a while man's evil prying calls them just within our range." - H. P. Lovecraft Behind You: The Forest is a solo survival horror tabletop game that heavily draws inspiration from American/Native American folklore, urban legends, creepypastas, etc. The game puts you in the middle of a forest miles away from civilization... And you are not alone in it. With your flashlight as the only source of light (and hope of survival), will you be able to make it out of the forest? Will the monster catch and devour you? ...Or, will you become a monster yourself? The game utilizes regular playing cards for most of its mechanics, so it does not require any printing or assembly. Gameplay boils down to drawing cards from the Terror Deck, looking up the relevant entry on the drawn Suit's Exploration Table, and resolving the event, all while working towards achieving the game's goal. To overcome the various challenges the game throws at you, you will be drawing cards from the Player Deck. Three different types of Checks based on blackjack mechanics are used to emulate this. The Player Deck also represents your flashlight battery. Draw too many cards, lose too much time, and the light runs out. And when it does, you better hope that you have a replacement battery, or it's game over. The game features two alternative endings, depending on your choice - to flee, or risk trying to defeat the evil within... THE FOREST. Content Warning : This is a survival horror game, so it will contain descriptions of violence, gore, isolation, bodily harm, cannibalism, deteriorating mental health, etc. You have been warned.
