What it is about
Mountains do not forgive impatience. You are at the bottom of a rock face and you know that there's no easy or fast way to the top. You find your first hold, look ahead and find another one, then yet another one. Would you be able to top out? From Bottom To Top is a solo dice game about mountain climbing. It uses a set of six polyhedral dice (1d4, 1d6, 1d8, 1d10, 1d12 and 1d20) that are rolled to generate climbing holds; a choice of one hold over another mostly depends on whether you prefer to take some risks or to play it safe. The climb becomes more and more difficult in the late game but some of your decisions may help you on the long run. Obviously, as in many dice games, you will still need a bit of luck in order to get to the top. This game has been designed as a standalone solo game but it could easily be hacked into a mini game in your favorite TTRPG or even a co-op experience. It also helps new players to grasp basic dice statistics and to differentiate those a bit better. From Bottom To Top has been designed for the 48-word RPG Jam and only counts 47 words (with the exception of the title and the signature). The background has been drawn by myself (and it's very new to me!), dice icons by Skoll downloaded from https://game-icons.net/ .
