What it is about
You are sitting in a cubicle in the lowest floor of the headquarters of a large corporation. A few weeks ago, you’ve seen a job search post on a business social network that you immediately replied on. „High salary, low efforts, big responsibilities. Come work with us.“ Down on your luck, you replied and got hired. They haven’t really talked about what you are supposed to be doing all day, just sit here and perform a ritual occasionally. You are sitting in a darkened room that smells of disinfectants. The light is flickering every few minutes as you’re musing to call-in facility management. Small drips of water fall down from a leaking pipe, hanging on the ceiling, creating a small puddle. Drip, Drip, Drip. You’re staring at the clock hanging on the wall and count down the minutes until the ritual must start. You wish, there was something more important to do here, than just stare at a mural painted at the wall. Yet, you know you’re getting paid quite well just to sit here and wait. You’re opening up your journal, as you write down what comes to your mind and what you have learnt throughout the day. You reminisce what they have been telling you so far about the company, the people working there, the tasks you’re waiting for to perform and whatever you can find here down below. But one thing stuck with you. „If you fail to comply, it might have dire consequences, not just for you, for all of us,“ your manager told you with a stern face, hauntingly. You wonder what those consequences could be. I hope this apocalypse finds you well is a corporate horror solo journaling game based on the Wretched & Alone system with some thematic changes. Similarly to other games, this game only needs a few components: a few d6s, a full card set ( WITH Jokers) and a wooden tension stack. Will you perform your tasks and fulfill your KPIs or do you let everything crumble?
