What it is about
Alone in the Night Side is a hack of Alone Among the Stars by Takuma Okada. Zine and game made by Becca. Cover art is The Witch's Daughter by Frederick Stuart Church from 1881. About: A solo journaling and map-making game about creating items in the landscapes of your dreams You have your life on the Day Side, but at night, instead of having random dreams or nightmares, you fall asleep into your second life on the Night Side. This second life helps you mentally recharge for the next day ahead. It is a magical, dreamlike world where you can find or create whatever you wish and feel a deep sense of accomplishment and contentedness. Create whatever feels cathartic to you in the moment that you're playing. During game play, you doodle or write out a map about the magical lands you explore and magical items you find or create there using prompts created by rolling dice and flipping over playing cards. The fully assembled zine is an 8-page booklet with instructions for how to play, but then you can also unfold it to see an example map/game play hidden on the other side. What you will need to play: A ten-sided die A six sided-die A pack of playing cards Something to write/draw on Something to write/draw with How to assemble the zine: 1. Print out the document in landscape orientation and double-sided at 100% (NOT scale to fit) 2. Cut off the page margins 3.
