What it is about

"You're on fire. The apartment isn't. Go room to room." You ordered a sketchy replica weapon online. Now you're standing in your living room engulfed in supernatural fire, and you can finally see the ancient entities secretly living in your kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. You didn't apply for this position. There was no onboarding. It is the worst Tuesday you’ve ever had, and you can't leave until the apartment is clear. Wholly Flaming Samurai, Man! is a solo, card-driven tactical roguelite TTRPG. Built with a strict "learn-as-you-play" philosophy, there is no massive rulebook to memorize before you start. Grab a standard 52-card deck, generate your Session Threat Score (STS), and step into the living room. The game will teach you exactly what you need to know, exactly when you need to know it. The Experience: The 52-Card Engine : Your deck is your randomizer and your clock. Every action you take costs a card, ticking the clock forward. If the deck runs out before the apartment is clear, time is up and the night resets. Efficiency is survival. 5 Distinct Personas : You didn't train for this—the weapon trained for you. Wield the Katana, Tetsubo, Yumi, Tanto, or Wakizashi. Each weapon dictates your Persona, giving you entirely different tactical skills, cooldowns, and approaches to clearing the rooms. Authentic Caribbean Folklore : Face down the Lagahoo, Baccoo, Dorlis, and Soucouyant. These are not generic monsters; they operate on authentic oral tradition. To survive, you must use environmental "lore kill-switches," like scattering salt to break a compulsion, or placing open scissors on a Bible. The Roguelite Loop : When you die, or when the clock runs out, reality resets to an anchor point. You wake up, and the unopened box is back on your coffee table. But you carry forward your banked SP Tokens to upgrade your Traits, and you retain all knowledge of the entities' weaknesses. The fire reveals. The fire protects. The fire is the weapon. Grab a deck of cards. Draw your weapon. Evict the jumbies . RATED T FOR TEEN (AGES 13+) Wholly Flaming Samurai, Man! balances high-octane tactical action with genuine Caribbean folklore. What to expect: Folklore Horror: True-to-source depictions of legendary entities, including sleep paralysis (the Dorlis), skin-shedding/blood-feeding (the Soucouyant), and headless shapeshifters (the Lagahoo). Comedic Sarcasm: Dry, adult-adjacent wit and moderate language suited for teens and adults on an incredibly bad Tuesday. Zero Exploitative Gore: While you will slash, parry, and burn supernatural pests with a flaming sword, the game focuses on mechanical tactical strategy over visceral, graphic gore
