What it is about
ABSTRACT You are a researcher stationed on the ocean planet Colchis. Your team's five-year project was to search for and catalog any novel form of life you encountered. However, with not even the barest hint of life to report, support for your team drained year after year until, eventually, you were elected to remain behind for the project's final year. Then, with only one week left of your seemingly pointless vigil, you found it. METHODS report from the argonaut is a primarily solo journaling rpg with an optional (but recommended) component at the end involving peer review. In addition to prompt answering, there are a couple of components that ask you to draw your observations. This is a game halfway about how knowledge is shaped and ultimately produced by the publication process, but it's also about how you come to encounter and what information you have to understand an alien encounter. I was inspired to make it after doing some reading on the production and movement of knowledge; you can check out the Further Reading section of Resources to see a short annotated bibliography of the specific works that got me thinking about this game. It's meant to be printed and written on, but you can also manage it on a blank sheet of paper as long as you keep the headings and labels all copacetic!
