1590: A Witching Year

It is 1590. Twenty miles east of Edinburgh. Rumors spread of witches plotting. Gathering in the woods. Dealing in treasonous devilry. King James is determined to find them. As your community crumbles around you, all you can do is survive. And bear witness. 1590: A Witching Year is a solo journaling game. Using a deck of playing cards and the game prompts, the player writes a diary that tells the story of a year in the life of a resident of East Lothian, Scotland during the North Berwick Witch Trials. This game deals in paranoia, false accusations, and death. It is directly inspired by a real time, real people, and real victims of ignorance and politics. It may not be appropriate for all audiences.
