What it is about

It’s July 3rd, 2026. You are a 2,030 by 167-foot concrete reflecting pool in Washington, DC. Since 1922, you have watched as legions of tourists, politicians, orators, protestors, commuters, and wildlife have gazed into your placid waters and considered…things. But now you're filled with green algae and muck. And there are only 24 hours before America turns 250 years old. Time is running out! Will you be clean before the festivities begin tomorrow, your waters finally restored to their former glory? Or are you instead destined to be drained empty, reflecting nothing but the avarice and absurdity of 2026? Welcome to Reflecting America @ 250! Reflecting America @ 250 is a solo RPG journaling game. You play the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool over the course of one day, and random visitors drop by and try to get you clean before you are drained or the day ends. To enjoy it you'll need: Around an hour of uninterrupted time and a quiet place; Two 6-sided dice (2d6) - easily found in any board games you have lying around; A copy of the character sheet (on page 12); A writing utensil (pen or pencil); Paper or a journal; (OPTIONAL) A way to play music (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.); and (OPTIONAL) A sparkler or birthday candle. It's a fun, weird, and timely little game I created for Free RPG Day 2026. Play it. Enjoy it. Share it. v.1 (it's drafty, so please excuse typos/design weirdness).
