What it is about

Welcome to “100 Oddities for a Wizard’s Tower,” a volume in Skirmisher Publishing’s bestselling series of system-free sourcebooks designed to help develop fun and engaging stories and to enhance encounters with compelling curiosities! Oddities are things that stand out from the ordinary, and good ones awaken curiosity and creativity in player and storyteller alike, adding interest to encounters, or even creating them out of nothing. Oddities may clutter a shelf, or lie forgotten in a corner, but they are not defined by where they are so much as what they are, which leads one to wonder why they are. A forgotten plate with a serving of dessert is not an Oddity in and of itself. When investigation determines that the dessert has been turned to stone, however, characters start to look around — under the table perhaps, and maybe even over their shoulders — and begin to question what might be going on. This thematic sourcebook contains 100 Oddities for a Wizard’s Tower, along with entries for 20 specific sorts of rooms that might be found in a sorceror’s abode; a table for randomly generating exits and entrances to areas, which can be very useful when running scenarios on the fly; and nine detailed, full-color floorplans of a sample Wizard’s Tower, from sub-basement to roof. Altogether, these elements enable you to create an entire Wizard’s Tower by generating rooms, determining the ways to get between them, and selecting the Oddities visitors might find in them. Oddities are intended to aid storyteller creativity, turning possibly bland areas or game sessions into something more. Our goal with the entries in this book is to make things more fun and to stir your imagination, possibly in directions it might not otherwise have taken. This rules-light storytelling game can easily be played anywhere, from the airport waiting area you are stuck in, to the overnight in some hotel where there is nothing to do (and also, of course, in your own home). All the basic rules fit on one page; no dice are needed; characters have just two stats; and any bookkeeping that might be required can be done on a cocktail napkin with a pen borrowed from a waiter. TSRPG is fully supported with sourcebooks that include "Arms, Armor & More," "Wands, Wagons, Whips & More," and "OS-TSRPG," along with 11 compelling scenarios, "The Call of CthulWho," "A Long Way to the Top," "Beating Around the Bush," "A Midsummer Night's Scheme," "On the Plane of Magma," "A Violet Shade of Death," "A Rose for Erato," "Into the Terrorium," "Whiskey in the Jar," "Krampusnacht: Night of the Krampus!," and "Temple of the Banished Suns," all of which include pregenerated characters and the basic rules for the game, allowing them to function as quick-starts for it. We have also had TSRPG translated into a number of other languages, including German (along with three adventures, „Eine Rose für Erato,“ „Auf der Ebene des Magmas,“ and „Tempel der Verbannten Sonnen,“along with the „OS-TSRPG" supplement), Spanish (along with four adventures, "Una Rosa Para Erato," "Un Tono Violeta de Muerte," ""¡El Plan de Una Noche de Verano"," and "En el Plano de Magma" and the "Armas, Armaduras y Más" and "Varitas, Vagones, Látigos y Más!" supplements), and Ukrainian!
