What it is about

Forests may often be the preserve of fey creatures of different kinds. Some fey may be mischievous whilst others may be more malicious and crueller in nature. In a forest dominated by darker fey, signs of cruelty can be found and the creatures and plants that live there can be darker too. This supplement has 100 encounters for such a forest. This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier. Here are some sample results: Insects of various different species, including some that would normally prey on each other, are gathering in the trees and underbrush around the characters. The insects look (DC 5 Wisdom (Perception) check) to be following them, and are definitely watching them. Jerky, halting music can be heard coming from up ahead. It is coming from a skeleton in bard's clothing standing between a tree. The skeleton is playing a lute, badly, and the movements of its jaw suggest it is trying to sing along to the music (the skeleton is undead but not a threat and can be easily destroyed, as it will not attempt to defend itself; no experience is gained from destroying it). Leaning at an angle is a shaped piece of stone. Removing the vines covering it shows that it is an old mile marker, though any carvings on it are long gone, by the looks of it deliberately defaced (DC 7 Wisdom (Perception) check). Leathery sounds come from overhead and it can be seen that unusually large bats are roosting in the branches of the trees. If disturbed or harassed, the bats will waken and fly at the characters, attempting to bite them (swarm of bats). Leaves stand in huge piles, as if (DC 5 Intelligence (Nature) check) they have been shovelled into them. The leaves themselves are of odd, dark colours and strange shapes. One page is the front cover, one the front matter, one is ads and one the Open Game License. The supplement is also available in the following versions: 3Deep, Black Spear, Lore 100, Pathfinder and system neutral. You do not need all versions.
