What it is about

Space stations hold a unique place in our sci fi games. From small way stations that monitor the deep black like far future lighthouses, to massive orbiting star ports that rival countries in size, they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. And whether your game is starting on one of these stations, your party is just passing through such a location or the entire campaign happens in such a space, chances are good the player characters are going to have some kind of interaction with station security personnel sooner or later. Whether the party works alongside security officers in pursuit of mutual goals, or they're adversaries attempting to stop one another, the personnel listed in this supplement cover a variety of roles, ranks and purposes. From standard patrol officers, to specialist investigators who deal with vice, murder or white-collar crime, to shadowy officers whose files are kept under seal unless one has appropriate clearance. From hardworking cops trying to do their best, to gangsters with badges, there's a little bit of everything in the entries that follow! So whether these officers are background characters on your station, or they're NPCs your players come to know and love (or loathe) is up to you! This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier. Here are some sample results: Thisska: A shirren who rarely goes into the field, Thisska is a supply specialist for the largest district on the station. Personnel need everything from weapons and armor to boot polish, uniform shirts, powdered caff and vehicles... and it's Thisska's job to make sure everything is available to her officers when they need it. In the years she's held her position, Thisska has banked more than her share of favors from other districts and command personnel, and every now and again she can acquire something truly rare, unique or unusual on the station... provided she has the proper motivation to do so, and the officers she's getting it for don't ask any questions about how it came into her possession. Commissioner Dranix: An imposing vex with one red, cybernetic eye, Dranix speaks in a slow, thoughtful manner, in a voice that practically rumbles from his deep chest. He is not quick to anger, and many citizens have found him to be a steadying, reassuring presence since he ascended to his current position. He rarely makes promises he can't keep, either to the press or to his people, and he is implacable when it comes to fulfilling his duties. Though he's learned to play the game of politics well enough, there is always a risk he decides he has lost patience with diplomacy, and will simply do what he feels has to be done while dealing with the fallout of his actions when the dust finally settles. Raia Sunn: A damaya lashunta, Raia is tall, with high cheekbones and sharp, green eyes that glimmer like twin gemstones. While Raia worked her way through the ranks to become a decorated detective, she transferred to the public relations corps when the offer was extended to her. Regularly handling the public briefings, she acts as the face of the department on the Pub-V channels to most average citizens. While she is very much a diplomat in her current position, most who are familiar with what goes on behind the scenes agree that she's kept her integrity, and that she has never knowingly delivered false information when she's stood at the lectern. Altronus: A closed-mouthed kasatha, Altronus's full introduction with all his names and honorifics can take as long as two and a half minutes. As such, this is rarely a formality he observes, unless he's meeting with others of his own kind and culture. With the kind of ropy muscles that pack a surprising amount of power, Altronus possesses a quiet, unsettling stillness to him that is one of his main tools during interrogations. His keen insight, and attention to a subject's body language, word choice and even their scent has allowed him to pick up on subtle micro-cues regarding falsehoods and unspoken truths. While his style is far from orthodox, his intuition has been invaluable for getting the truth out of the most recalcitrant of subjects. Manning: Raised in an on-station orphanage, most people have no idea if Manning is the ysoki's first, last or only name. Spry and lean for his build, Manning's specialty is as a security services sharpshooter. Spending an inordinate amount of time on the range, even for someone who occupies his unique position, Manning is almost cavalier about his skills with any and all ranged weapons. As several of his coworkers have pointed out, though, no one who acts that carefree puts in the hours that he does. More than a few of his fellow officers believe that however little he claims his job bothers him, Manning cannot allow himself to miss during those incidents where he's getting trigger time, and people are depending on him to hit where he's aiming.
