What it is about

100 Most Haunted Places in the World 100 Most Haunted Places in the World contains 100 spine-chilling locations from across the globe, each with detailed paranormal activity, historical background, and supernatural phenomena perfect for horror RPGs like Call of Cthulhu, World of Darkness, or any modern horror setting. Examples of haunted locations: Hoia Baciu Forest, Cluj-Napoca (Romania) - Dubbed Romania's "Bermuda Triangle," this ancient woodland has terrorized visitors for centuries. Local legends speak of disappearing shepherds and their flocks, while modern paranormal investigators report inexplicable UFO sightings, electronic malfunctions, and disorienting time distortions. The forest's notorious "Dead Zone" – a perfectly circular clearing where nothing grows – serves as an epicenter for supernatural activity. Visitors frequently experience nausea, anxiety, and the overwhelming sensation of being watched by unseen entities lurking within the twisted, gnarled trees. Poveglia Island, Venice (Italy) - This cursed island served as a plague quarantine station from 1793-1814, where over 160,000 victims were burned alive or buried in mass graves. Later converted into a mental hospital, the sadistic chief doctor conducted horrific experiments before allegedly throwing himself from the bell tower. The island's soil contains 50% human ash, creating an overwhelming supernatural presence. Visitors report phantom plague victims wandering the ruins, disembodied screams from the former hospital, and the mad doctor's ghost still conducting spectral surgeries in moonlit corridors. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia (United States) - Opened in 1829 as the world's first true penitentiary, this revolutionary prison pioneered solitary confinement to inspire penitence through isolation. The radical system drove countless inmates insane, including notorious gangster Al Capone who reported phantom visitors in his luxurious cell. The crumbling Gothic fortress closed in 1971, leaving behind tortured souls trapped within its imposing walls. Visitors report shadow figures darting between cells, disembodied laughter echoing through cellblocks, and phantom hands grabbing them in the notorious "hole."
