What it is about
Bird is Dragon! is a solo-ish drawing, nature journalling, and birdwatching TTRPG where you play as a naturalist studying dragons in the wild. Observe ordinary birds, record their features and behaviour, then reconstruct them as dragons in your field journal! What you’ll need to play: A journal or blank paper A 6-sided die Pens, pencils, and colouring supplies A quiet place outdoors to observe birds Who can play? While the game was designed to play solo, you’re more than welcome to go dragonwatching with friends! Think of it as a group field study. This game is also suitable for all ages! Note: If it’s hard to spot a bird in your area, get a random one at Birds of the World (Click ‘Surprise me!’). For dragon name inspiration, check out this spreadsheet of dragon names from Wyrmspan. Inspired by Wyrmspan the boardgame, the Great Eared Nightjar (it looks like a dragon!), Malaysia Garden Birdwatch, gorgeous bird-turned-dragon art by sugarpoultry and neytaan_art , and my friend Zac who sends me random birds to ID together.
