What it is about
A cozy solo journaling game in printable PDF: you are a small frog keeping the hearth of a missing Swamp Witch, with a pen, a journal, and one rainy evening. No experience needed, and there is no way to lose. The hearth is warm, but the hut is quiet. You are a small frog in a pointed marsh-grass hat, apprentice to the Swamp Witch, and she has not come home. Someone has to keep the fire. A Frog, A Puddle & An Empty Hut is a solo journaling RPG about quiet evenings, gentle melancholy, and keeping something warm until the person it belongs to comes back. A single sitting runs an hour or two and tells a whole small story — or let evening lead to evening, and slowly uncover the real reason she left. HOW AN EVENING GOES • Take a short walk. Ten or fifteen minutes outside, gathering small things — a pebble, a bright leaf, a lost button. • Come home and write. Each found object becomes a journaling prompt: a memory of the Witch, a chore gone sideways, a small spell, a visitor knocking in the rain. • Tend the hut. Keep the fire high or let it burn low, calm the wild magic or let it grow. The dice give the night its weather; your journal does the rest. There are six Threads — six reasons she might be gone — each unfolding as you play toward one of four homecomings. Every campaign finds a different answer. Prefer something even quieter? Cozy Mode drops the tracking for a single perfect evening. It is as much a keepsake as a game. Gentle tips run throughout on what to write and how, with nudges to draw your frog, sketch what you find, and press real leaves between the pages. By the end, your journal is a little hut of its own. A quiet gift, too — for journal keepers, frog lovers, cottagecore and cozy-fantasy readers, and anyone who likes their games slow, soft, and a little witchy. WHAT'S INCLUDED • The newly expanded 62-page rulebook, fully illustrated • A one-page play aid to keep beside your journal, so you can stay in the hut and out of the rulebook • Printable cut-and-fold sheets for the Witch's Deck — the hut has always run on scraps, and so does the game WHAT YOU'LL NEED • A journal and a pen • Polyhedral dice (d6–d20) — or a free dice app works just as well • Ten minutes outside, and something warm to drink Instant download, print and play. Nothing is shipped. Print at home, take it to a copy shop, or read it from a screen and write by lamplight. For personal use. There is no winning and nothing to beat. Just a small creature keeping a home warm, and a story that surfaces if you let it. More cozy solo games are on the way at SparkScribe — favorite the shop and you'll hear the wren before anyone else does.
