At its heart, Stable Select is a compact horse-placement puzzle built around a simple challenge: generate your horses, study their traits, and decide where each one belongs in your 3×3 stable. Every horse brings a combination of breed, color, and type. Every stall wants something different. Some reward the perfect horse. Some punish a bad match. Others care about the horses beside them, the colors in a row, the order in which you place them, or the overall balance of your stable. You’ll never get everything exactly the way you want it. Before placing your next horse, the weather can change the value of positive and negative scores for that turn, forcing you to adapt your plans on the fly. Horses vary by characteristics including breed, color, and premium/standard type , while the scoring rules reward different combinations and relationships. In the core Stable Select system, even the sponsors have opinions. Some want Mustangs. Some want gray horses, black horses, Appaloosas, premium horses, particular breeds, matching colors, or a stable with the right mix of horses. A perfect fit can score big; a mismatch can cost you.
