What it is about
Siege Logic - 16 medieval siege puzzles What kind of puzzle is it? If you enjoy Sudoku , Battleships (the pencil-and-paper logic puzzle), Tents or Minesweeper , you'll feel right at home — and still find something new: Like Battleships , the numbers around the grid tell you how many pieces hide in each row and column. Like Tents , your pieces can never touch each other, not even diagonally. Like Minesweeper or Kakuro , every castle is a number that must add up exactly. Like Sudoku , there is one solution, and pure logic gets you there. The twist is the arsenal: four units with different ranges, damage and lines of fire, turning every board into a small tactical battle. Every castle has a resistance. You have an arsenal. Your job: place every unit on the battlefield so that each castle takes exactly the damage it can hold — not one point less, not one point more. Your arsenal Soldiers — strikes an adjacent cell. 1 damage. Rams — strikes an adjacent cell. 3 damage. Archers — shoots 2 or 3 cells away in a straight line. 1 damage, but forests, units and other castles block the shot. Catapults — lobs 3 to 5 cells away. 2 damage, arcing over forests and units — but never over another castle. The rules of war The numbers around the grid tell you how many units stand in each row and column. Units never stand on forests or castles, and never touch each other — not even diagonally. No unit sits idle: every one must hit at least one castle. Each castle must take exactly its resistance. Overshooting is as wrong as falling short. Every puzzle has a single solution you can reach by pure deduction: counts, adjacency, range and damage arithmetic. Every board also hides at least one unit that hits two castles at once — find it, and two counts fall into place in one move.
