What it is about
Come In, Marrow Peak is a solo journaling game. It's summer 1959 and you're the new fire lookout at Marrow Peak, a glass room on stilts nine miles from the nearest road. Your job is to watch for smoke. The only other voice up there is Juniper, the lookout on the next ridge, who has been there longer than anyone can say and is very happy you came. You draw the horizon one sighting at a time on a fold-out strip, keep a radio log, press things you find on the trail, and fall into something with Juniper that's sweet right up until it isn't. The forest moves at night. Juniper says not to worry about it. The PDF is 16 pages: Rules and 6 pages of roll tables 30 radio calls from Juniper across 5 stages of devotion A sighting dial you build with a brass paper fastener A Devotion dial, a Comforts card, and a sealed newspaper clipping you don't open until you've earned it 8 horizon panels that tape into one long fold-out strip The lookout standing orders You need a notebook, a pencil, a black pen, one orange colored pencil, a d6, a d8 and a d10, plus a printer, scissors, tape and glue. One sitting is one day in the tower, about 20 to 40 minutes. Content note: obsessive and possessive love, isolation, wildfire, disappearances and implied death. Nothing graphic. Community copies are for anyone who can't swing $3 right now. Check the community-copy section below for availability. I add another copy for each purchase. This is a 16-page PDF download to print at home. Nothing will be shipped. If you like the increasingly possessive romance, try Dollhouse , a free browser visual novel about a neighbor who makes miniatures of things he should not know.
