What it is about
Chaos Rising is a solo procedural adventure framework that generates highly replayable fantasy expeditions. Play against the system as you explore dangerous locations, solve challenges, manage dwindling resources and contend with ever-rising Chaos. It is inspired by games like 4 Against Darknessn and Fabled lands but with a focus an deeper tactical systems and escalating uncertainty as in Darkest Dungeon. The game runs entirely through procedure, with no GM and no interpretation or narrative building required, just decisions as you guide your party through a dangerous, evolving dungeon. Imagine a giant fantasy gamebook where the map, encounters, and adventure are generated by the rules instead of being written in advance. Every expedition generates a new map, new encounters, new events, new hazards, and new objectives. The player explores the world and interacts with gamebook-style encounters while trying to complete their mission before the expedition spirals into Total Chaos. The aim is to create a game that captures the immediacy of solo dungeon exploration while adding a stronger long-term structure through haven play, mission selection, campaign pressure, and party progression. You control a party of adventurers exploring dangerous sites such as tombs, shrines, strongholds, caverns, and dungeons. Each expedition is shaped by procedural generation, rising chaos, resource attrition, and mission goals. Between expeditions, the party returns to haven to recover, prepare, and decide what comes next. This page will track the game’s progress through devlogs, design notes, and previews.
