What it is about
TOMORROW BELONGS TO THOSE WHO DARE TO LOVE. BEYOND THE STARS A Galaxy of Romance and Adventure! BEYOND THE STARS is a tense, romantic solo journaling RPG compressed into a single, elegant double-sided A4 printout. Folded into a 4-page A5 zine, it puts you in the pilot’s seat of a fracturing ship alongside the most important person in your universe. You are the pilot of a struggling vessel outrunning a galactic threat. Your only companion is The Passenger—perhaps an alien royal, a rival smuggler, or a defected AI. Together, you must navigate the perils of deep space while managing the fragile, volatile boundaries of your own hearts. Will you make it to safe harbour together, or will the void tear you apart? How It Plays Using an elegant, math-free Two-Phase Matrix Engine, your dice don't dictate whether you "win" or "lose"—they dictate the raw emotional trajectory of your story: Phase 1: The Cosmic Die. Roll to see what sector hazard threatens your ship. Will you suffer a sudden System Shock, endure a brutal Resource Drain, face a tempting Star-Crossed Dilemma, or confront a moment of raw Emotional Vulnerability? Every hazard forces a mechanical toll on your ship's tracks or your dice pool. Phase 2: The Fate Pool. Roll 5 dice and hunt for combinations. Scrape by on Space Debris or risk everything to collapse your dice into a flawless Singularity. Cross-reference your results on the master table to uncover your captain's log prompt. The Romance Modifier: Spend your hard-earned Connection points to manually flip dice. Push your luck to alter fate—but be careful not to build emotional walls. What You Get A Complete Print-and-Play RPG: A beautifully formatted, space-efficient PDF ready to print double-sided on a single sheet of A4 paper and fold into an A5 booklet. The Master Prompt Matrix: 16 evocative, shifting narrative prompts that track your relationship from cold distance to intense cosmic intimacy. Sub-System Mechanics: Simple tracking rules for your Hull, Shields, Life Support, and Hyperdrive that directly feed your narrative journal. What You Need to Bring A physical journal or digital document to write your Log. Six standard six-sided dice (d6), with one being a uniquely distinct colour (your Cosmic Die). Coming in Version 2.0: The Cosmic Deck Expansion. This 1.0 release is a complete standalone narrative experience. Coming soon, the Version 2.0 Expansion will replace the Cosmic Die with a custom physical card deck, expanding the prompts and introducing a lethal, strategic survival mode in which your ship's subsystems can completely destroy your vessel if your relationship falls apart.
