What it is about

Mushroomers for Hire A cozy solo journaling RPG about picking mushrooms, missing home, and trying not to disappoint Grandmama. You are a Burrodowner of Rumblydown—stout hillfolk raised among spore gardens and root cellars. You live in your Grandmama’s shed now, tending her memory after the foreclosure. You pick mushrooms for coin, for comfort, and for the taste of home. You need thirty coins to buy back Hearthcap Home. Each session takes twenty to thirty minutes. You’ll need a notebook, two six-sided dice, a standard deck of cards, and ideally a warm drink by a window. What you do Choose a path each day: Sneak into gardens and cellars on risky bounties Cook what you find into stews that taste like memory Grow your own spores in the dark Wander the wild places with no fences Or simply eat a mushroom and let the past rise up for a moment A card drawn at the start of every session sets the tone—warmth or hardship, memory or market, a stranger arriving or the land itself speaking. The village lives around you. Grandmama is never entirely gone. What you’ll track Coins toward home. Disappointment that can send her away for good. Warmth tokens earned from the things that still feel like love. A small haul of mushrooms with names like Giggleslips, Screamers, Ghost-Flora, and Nightwhispers. There are six possible endings once you reach thirty coins (or decide you no longer need the house). Some keep you in the village. One lets you walk into the forest and never look back. Written for the cozy, the stubborn, and the homesick.
