What it is about
So i am working towards doing my own formatting and visually appealing version, but wanted feedback in the interim. More than anything, I think its fun and we all need a little more play in the world. WHAT IS HEXMAUL HINTERLANDS SRPG? Hexmaul Hinterlands SRPG is a solo RPG engine built on a single core idea: Nature + Tier + Age → then call yourself whatever. Your character is defined by how they think and act (Nature), the scale they operate on (Tier), and their level of experience (Age). Everything else—skills, gear, backstory—is open-ended. The system includes: · Full character creation (2 minutes) · Two resolution modes (EZ and Crunchy) · Complete solo tools (Oracles, Chaos Factor, Random Events) · Exploration engine with terrain tables · A bestiary (10 archetypes) · A plot generator · A ready-to-play mini mission · A character sheet · A name generator It's self-contained, contradiction-free, and ready to play. --- HOW DOES IT WORK? The Core Rule Roll under your Rank (1-6) on a d6, or under your Skill % (16-96) on a d100. Lower is better. Two Modes Mode Resolution Damage Best For EZ 1d6 vs Rank 1 hit = 1 EZ Chi Solo play, narrative focus, fast sessions Crunchy d100 vs Skill % Damage die + Rank Tactical play, group sessions, depth What You Need · A d6 (for EZ mode) · A d100 (two d10s, or a digital roller, assorted dice) · A notebook to track Chi and Threads · Your imagination --- WHAT'S INSIDE Section Content 1 Philosophy 2 Character Creation (Nature, Age, Tier, Passive Perks) 3 Core Resolution (Conversion, XP, Combat Examples, Complete Play Example) 4 Chi, Damage, and Health 5 Weapons & Gear 6 Solo Sandbox – Oracles 7 Exploration Engine 8 Bestiary (10 Archetypes) 9 Plot Generator 10 Mini Mission: The Rented Room 11 Character Sheet 12 Sample Tropeskills 13 Name Generator 14 Supersession Notes & Core Rules Lock Record --- WHO IS THIS FOR? You Are... Mortal (×1) to Meta (×5). 4. Calculate Chi. EZChi = Body × Tier + Default Rank. Chi = EZChi × 6. 5. Choose Tropeskills. Pick from the menu or invent your own. 6. Start Playing. Roll 1d6 (EZ) or d100 (Crunchy). Roll under your Rank/Skill to succeed. That's it. You're playing. --- WHAT'S NOT INCLUDED · A pre-written adventure (though there's a mini mission and plot generator) · A fixed setting (the system is genre-agnostic) · Tokens, maps, or digital tools · Art or layout—this is a text-only document (14 sections, complete rules) --- ABOUT THE "ASHCAN" LABEL "Ashcan" means this is a complete, working game that has been iterated through multiple versions (1–13). It's not a rough draft—it's a polished system that may continue to evolve with play. Ashcan 13 is self-consistent, contradiction-free, and ready to use. This is version 13.0, dated 2026-08-16. --- STATE OF THE GAME Complete: The rules are fully written and self-consistent.
