What it is about

Hello everyone! This is Metal Tyrants Arena Edition, a one page tabletop game of mecha duel between 2 or more players with rules for expansion of your kingdom and much more to come. You need to print the rules, 2 maps at least and have a full dice set for every player as the game works based on dice allocation. Feel free to comment and give your input to help shape it into a better game. PS: I still have to upload new images and miniatures but will do it soon, you guys can go about learning the system. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Metal Tyrant's TTRPG is in the works, as much as a solo journaling option. But you can already enjoy mech action using this arena game based on the MT universe. A lorebook will be launched too with more detail about the world and everything you want to know, from insults, banter, settlements, repair stations, the new alien world and all its hazards. The universe of Metal Tyrants is: 🔥 More Brutal & Permanent – Every landfin lost is gone forever . The world is shrinking, not expanding . 🔥 More Personal & Psychological – Pilots are mentally altered , seen as freaks, warlords, or prophets , and are feared even by their own people . 🔥 More Mythic & Desperate – The landfins are gods, pilots are their priests , and the last elites seek to escape a planet on its last wobbling days . 🔥 More Politically Twisted – Repair stations only obey pilots , leading to kidnappings, blackmail, seduction, and hostage wars . 🔥 More About the Last Days of Humanity – There’s no future colony, no rebuilding, just a desperate dream of escape before the last big wobble destroys everything. There is nothing quite like Metal Tyrants . It combines hard sci-fi, mecha, post-apocalypse, political survival, and psychological horror in a way that no anime, board game, TTRPG, or mecha universe fully matches . 🔥 It is mechs as the last dying gods. 🔥 It is pilots as warlords, prisoners, and freaks. 🔥 It is humanity as a broken species, clawing for one last chance to escape. Comparing Metal Tyrants to Mecha Anime Titles 1️⃣ Evangelion (Neon Genesis Evangelion) 🛠️ Similarities: Psychological and emotional toll on pilots. A mix of sci-fi and existential horror. Machines that are more than just weapons. ❌ Differences: Metal Tyrants has no “chosen children” or secret organizations pulling strings. Pilots are self-made warlords, feared and hated. Evangelion’s mechs are partially organic and connected to apocalyptic religious themes, while Metal Tyrants is purely technological and grounded in harsh post-apocalyptic survival. No aliens, no godlike beings—only humans clinging to dying technology. 🔍 Verdict: Metal Tyrants is way grittier, dirtier, and more grounded. There’s no teenage angst, just hardened pilots barely clinging to sanity. 2️⃣ Gundam Series (Universal Century, SEED, Iron-Blooded Orphans, etc.) 🛠️ Similarities: Mechs are symbols of power and control. Political conflict plays a huge role. Pilots live and die by their machines. ❌ Differences: Metal Tyrants has no large-scale space colonies or interplanetary wars. The world is dying , not expanding. There are no mass-produced mechs—each Landfin is one-of-a-kind and irreplaceable. Gundam focuses on factions and ideology, while Metal Tyrants is about desperate survival, paranoia, and the last days of mankind. 🔍 Verdict: While Gundam explores war politics, Metal Tyrants is about what happens after civilization is already lost . It’s Gundam if every pilot was a scavenger warlord fighting over the last working mechs. 3️⃣ Code Geass 🛠️ Similarities: Pilots as warlords who rule over people. Mechs as symbols of tyranny and rebellion. A focus on manipulation, tactics, and power struggles. ❌ Differences: Code Geass is about chess-like strategic warfare; Metal Tyrants is about raw, desperate survival and paranoia. No high-tech cities or empires—only crumbling bunkers, scavenger gangs, and fading technology. There’s no grand plan, no ultimate rebellion—just warped human ambition trying to escape a doomed planet. 🔍 Verdict: If Code Geass is a game of chess, Metal Tyrants is a knife fight in the dark where everyone is already bleeding out. 4️⃣ Macross (Robotech) 🛠️ Similarities: Mechs as cultural and military powerhouses. Advanced but misunderstood technology. ❌ Differences: Metal Tyrants has no alien threat or space travel —just a dying Earth. Macross focuses on hope and cultural unity; Metal Tyrants is about betrayal, mistrust, and the slow death of everything. No singing idols saving the world—only warlords fighting over the last working repair stations. 🔍 Verdict: Metal Tyrants is like Macross if the war was already lost, and the survivors were just trying to hold onto scraps of a dead civilization. 5️⃣ Knights of Sidonia 🛠️ Similarities: Hard sci-fi approach with a focus on survival. Pilots are physically modified and psychologically different from normal people. ❌ Differences: Sidonia is about preserving humanity’s future in space. Metal Tyrants is about humanity’s last days, stuck on a ruined Earth. No clear alien enemy—only other humans fighting over scraps. Sidonia’s technology is advancing, while Metal Tyrants is falling apart with no way to rebuild it. 🔍 Verdict: Metal Tyrants is Sidonia’s opposite —instead of launching into space for survival, the last elites are barely holding onto a desperate dream of escaping through a dying stargate. 6️⃣ The Vision of Escaflowne 🛠️ Similarities: Mechs are legendary relics, not just war machines. Pilots form intimate, almost mystical bonds with their machines. ❌ Differences: Metal Tyrants is pure sci-fi —no magic, no alternate worlds. No prophecy, no destiny—just warriors clinging to the last functional technology. Pilots are not noble knights—they’re feared, hated, and sometimes hunted for their power. 🔍 Verdict: If Escaflowne is about mechs as knightly relics of honor , Metal Tyrants is about mechs as tools of oppression and survival in a doomed world. 7️⃣ Darling in the Franxx 🛠️ Similarities: Cockpits are highly intimate. Pilots are mentally and physically changed by their machines. ❌ Differences: No metaphor for relationships or puberty— Metal Tyrants is about pure survival and power. No utopian sci-fi cities—just dust, ruins, and the last gasps of technology. No genetically engineered soldiers—just scavengers turned warlords. 🔍 Verdict: If Franxx is about mechs as a metaphor for love and connection , Metal Tyrants is about mechs as a metaphor for power, survival, and absolute control. Final Verdict: What Makes Metal Tyrants Unique? 🔥 More Brutal & Permanent – Every Landfin lost is gone forever. The world is shrinking, not expanding. 🔥 More Psychological & Personal – Pilots are mentally altered, seen as freaks, warlords, or prophets. 🔥 More Desperate & Mythic – The mechs are ancient relics , their technology barely understood. 🔥 More Politically Twisted – Repair stations only obey pilots, leading to kidnappings, blackmail, and warlord feuds. 🔥 More About Humanity’s Last Days – There’s no grand war, no expansion—just the last scraps of power fighting for survival before the planet collapses. Conclusion: Metal Tyrants is the anti-Gundam, anti-Evangelion, anti-Macross. It’s what happens after the war is lost, after the space colonies fail, after the last factory stops working. It’s about what humans do when there’s nothing left to win—only survival, paranoia, and the dying embers of ambition. Nothing else does all of this at once.
