What it is about

"The stone does not move, yet it grows heavy with thought; the sand does not flow, yet it carries the current of the soul." Lore You have been appointed the caretaker of the ancient Hōshin-ji Temple . For centuries, its stone garden has served as a sacred mirror for those seeking clarity. As the gardener, your task is to achieve Shibumi —effortless elegance. You must balance the "Heavy" elements of the earth with the "Fluid" patterns of the sea, all while watching the sun’s path cast long shadows across your canvas. In this garden, every raked line is a breath, and every stone is a mountain of silence. Game Details Number of Players: 1 (Solo) Genre: Roll-and-Write / Puzzle / Meditation Play Time: 10–15 Minutes Main Mechanics: Spatial Puzzle, Tile Placement (Drawing), Shadow Management Core Mechanics The Dual Path: Every dice roll offers a choice between a "Heavy" Element (Stones, Bamboo, Ponds) or a "Fluid" Sand Pattern. You must decide whether to anchor your garden or create flow. The Rule of Shadows: Elements cast shadows based on your chosen Sun Source. These shadows restrict where future heavy objects can be placed, forcing you to plan your garden's growth around the light. Living Harmony: Beyond simple stones, you must manage delicate Bonsai trees that require isolation and Bamboo chimes that crave the wind at the garden's edge. Flowing Serenity: Score bonus points by creating "Flowing Paths"—uninterrupted sand patterns that span the entire width of your garden. Requirements The Game Sheet: (Ink-friendly 5x5 grid provided) A Single d6: One 6-sided die. Writing Utensil: A pen or pencil (and perhaps an eraser for those seeking perfection). A Moment of Calm: Best played with a cup of tea and a quiet room.
